Atomicom today is announcing that it has been working closely with BlackBerry® to add support to its cross platform technology and celebrated the conclusion by releasing their catalogue of titles on the BlackBerry® World™ storefront.

Switch, Angry Wife, Cats and Bombs, Tiny Jewels and The Best Christmas Game Ever are currently available on BlackBerry World.

The crowd funded title, House of Golf, will be available in early April. A soon to be announced Playstation VITA title, which will launch for BlackBerry in May and the new exciting racing title, Off Road World Tour, which builds on the success of the hit Bang Bang Racing, will be released later in 2013.

Atomicom’s Managing Director Gary Nichols comments, “We have been talking to BlackBerry for a while about our titles. Although we have advanced cross platform technology, we were happy to invest the time and effort into getting BlackBerry supported in our engine. We knew that BlackBerry was planning something big and we wanted to be involved. We’re extremely excited about BlackBerry 10. It could turn out to be the platform developers have been waiting for.”

“BlackBerry gamers are always looking for what’s new and exciting. Atomicom brings a portfolio of high-energy, creative games to the BlackBerry 10 platform,” said Martyn Mallick, Vice President of Global Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry.”

A games development company based in Liverpool has won a share of a new £5m cashpot aimed at boosting England’s creative companies.

Atomicom will also welcome a visit from culture minister Ed Vaizey MP tomorrow (17 January 2013) to mark the funding announcement by Creative England, the national agency which invests in and supports creative ideas and businesses.

Launched in 2005, Atomicom originally began developing games for consoles but now focuses on the mobile phone and tablet markets.

The company is behind the Bang Bang Racing game and will now use the new undisclosed funding to develop cross-platform versions of its new game Off Road World Tour.

Managing director Gary Nichols said: “We are very excited about the opportunity Creative England is offering us.

“For the past 12 months, we have been knocking on the doors of all the high street banks, to no avail.

“Despite the pressure from government, the banks are still not lending to SMEs such as ourselves.

“To be able to get support from government and from Creative England for our project is something we’re deeply grateful for. Without them it wouldn’t happen.”

Atomicom is one of 13 English small creative and digital businesses to take a slice of the £5m pot which is administered in the form of interest free loans matched by company funds.

The cash came from the government’s Regional Growth Fund investment scheme and was open to small companies in the North, West Midlands and South West.

Creative England, whose North West base is in Salford, was established in October 2011 and its first national business investment fund launched last summer.

It attracted 109 applications prior to the submission of 23 projects for assessment in this funding round.

Decisions were based on commercial astuteness, innovation and the creation of highly skilled jobs.
